Hey folks, give this article a wee read and then reflect on how you can very easily play your part in protecting our planet for our children and their children. Everyone is pretty switched on to the impact of plastic, glass and paper. But in fact, textiles are the hidden monster of carbon emissions and global warming.
Apart from the amount of water it takes to treat natural fibres and the plastic content in man-made fibres, most of our clothes travel 5000km+ to the shops we buy them from, and if we recycle them in clothes banks or donate to international charity shops, they often travel 5000km+ to be sold in African markets.
So please donate your unwanted clothes and textiles to ReTweed or BAVS and support local common good and international environmental good.
