Seasonal and Festive Wreaths
November 23 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm| £38
Why not come along with friends as an alternative weekend get-together?
Get yourself firmly into the winter spirit with our fun and relaxed seasonal workshop. Join us in our special collaboration with Gemma Landells from Occasions of Eyemouth to make your own beautiful festive wreath. During this class professional florist, Gemma will teach you how to create your own seasonal wreath from scratch. Starting with a wire ring and binding, you’ll add lots of foliage, berries and an abundance of natural decorations, leaving you with a beautiful handmade wreath to take home and display with pride.
In the second part of the day, Textiles Historian, Margaret Kenny will guide you through a wonderful session making a rag wreath – using lots of wild and wacky fabrics that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. With Margaret’s help, you will create a colourful and artistic fabric wreath which has a positive environmental impact and will last forever.
Gemma Landells is (we are biased) an artist and a genius when it comes to the composition of flora, foliage, flowers and colour. Occasions create unique floral displays, bouquets and wreaths and are delighted to share their creativity and experience in collaboration with ReTweed.
Margaret Kenny, is a Textiles Historian and a very passionate rag rugger. She will demonstrate the traditional techniques of hooking and podging strips of fabric through hessian backing to make rugs, wall hangings and seat mats. During the workshop, Margaret will also share the history and heritage of rag rugging in Britain and introduce specific techniques and patterns associated with the local area.
As well as having a lovely day at our craft event you’ll be creating original gifts and crafts which will be adorning your homes or those of your loved ones.
This is an easy ‘no sew’ workshop utilising a diverse array of plant life and fabric scraps to create wonderful and entirely original Wreaths
Two wreath frames and all your materials – AND you will take home your beautiful creations!
NB: If you want to bring a bit of fabric or flora from your own life – foliage from your garden or an old item of clothing with sentimental value to incorporate into your craft masterpiece – then feel free!
