The ReTweed Training Programme enables women to develop their creative skills in craft, design and technology with textiles.

Our current training course – (1.5 days each week) started on the 17th January. All students have the opportunity to produce a range of furnishings, fashions and crafts which are sold to support our social mission. The course delivers practical skills, helps build confidence and helps students find their next step on the road into further learning, enterprise, employment or in some cases, volunteering – particularly in creative industry.

Most of our textiles are upcycled and promote an environmental awareness as well as adding a dynamic twist to design and production. Our Trainer works with students to empower and help them design and create fabulous products. Each student will receive a minimum of 5.5 hours direct training each week and an additional opportunity to ‘freestyle’ on their own.

Our Trainer, Jacqueline Thompson, has had an esteemed career in textiles and has made clothes for amongst others, Elton John, Paul Weller and Robert Plant! Testimonials from our previous cohort of students describe her as “inspiring, brilliant and a creative genius”.

So do get in touch and join us for the next chapter. You’ll be glad you did!

This course will run every Tuesday from 10:30pm – 4:30pm. Lunch will be provided for the first two weeks, and refreshments provided throughout the course. The course will run in Tedda, Eyemouth.
